Jackson Browne, Greg Leisz to play sold-out show in Sarasota
Hoping to see Jackson Browne at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota next week? Got your tickets?
If not, you’re probably out of luck. The show sold out almost as soon as tickets went on sale. They went faster than almost any show in recent history, Van Wezel officials said.
That’s not surprising. Browne has been a fixture on America’s popular music scene since the early 1970s. He was briefly a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and wrote songs that other artists recorded (including the Eagles’ first single, “Take It Easy”) before he started recording and releasing his own material.
His first album, 1972’s “Jackson Browne” (which is often mistakenly called “Saturate Before Using”), made him a star, thanks to such hits as “Rock Me on the Water” and “Doctor My Eyes.”
The show is billed as “Jackson Browne with Greg Leisz.” Leisz is a pedal steel guitarist who has recorded with Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Beck, Eric Clapton and just about anyone else you may have heard of who occasionally features pedal steel guitar on his or her albums in the past 30 years..
The show is sold out, but the Van Wezel box office is taking names for a waiting list in case tickets become available.
