Tony Bennett concert, delayed by Hurricane Irma, rescheduled
— Singer Tony Bennett’s concert in Sarasota has been rescheduled, and it’s well after hurricane season.
Bennett, whose original date at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall was canceled due to Hurricane Irma, will now perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 10.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, according to a Van Wezel news release.
With albums selling both platinum and gold and a Citizen of the World Award from the United Nations, Bennett, 91, a Grammy Award-winner, has been called “a living legend” who has formed part of the fabric of American music culture.
He has been performing more than 60 years and is recognized for his unique vocal style and stage presence, which some have called “charming.”
Among his long list of achievements and awards is the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
His signature tunes include “Steppin’ Out With My Baby” and “I Left My Heart In San Francisco.”
