Bradenton’s Main Street Live hosts its annual Halloween party
The weather is finally cooling down, a few weeks later than we had hoped, so that makes this weekend a great time to catch some free outdoor music.
It’s Halloween too, or close enough, so that’s extra reason to take in the season’s first Main Street Live, Bradenton’s favorite street party.
Main Street Live draws hundreds of people to downtown Bradenton for live music, food and a festive atmosphere. It begins its 2017-18 season on Saturday. Old Main Street between Manatee and Third avenues will be closed vehicular traffic. Vendors line the streets and live music from some of the area’s favorite bands plays throughout the night. It gets going at 6 p.m. and continues to 10 p.m.
Besides the usual attractions, this month’s Main Street Live will celebrate Halloween at the first event, so you’re likely to encounter some scary and creative Halloween costumes during the evening.
But the live music, along with the general festive atmosphere, will still be the main attraction, and this week the music comes from Wild Root, a popular area band that combines indie-style rock with light touches of jazz and funk.
The other Main Street Live events this year feature Rebel Heart (Nov. 22), Kettle of Fish (Dec. 16), the Beat Down (Dec. 31), the David Smash Band (Feb. 3), Kim Betts & the Gamble Creek Band (March 17), Rye Road (March 31) and Summer Survivors (May 5).
Details: 6-10 p.m. Oct. 28, Old Main Street, Bradenton. Free. 941-896-8860.
