Third annual Beer, Bands & BBQ festival set for this weekend

Whether you’re in the mood to down a few brews, indulge in a little tasty chow or revel in some of the best live music the area has to offer, the annual Beer, Bands & BBQ ought to have what you’re craving.

Saturday’s festival will be the third annual edition of the festival. It’s scheduled to start at noon at the Sarasota Farm Bureau on Palmer Boulevard.

The beer comes from some of the area’s favorite craft brewers. There will also be plenty of other domestic brands available.

There’s lot of traditional barbecue on the menu, but also what organizers are calling “barbecue with twist” — such items as barbecue chicken pizza.

The music lineup features some of the area’s best-known acts and some up-and-comers. There’s something for everybody, with every hour bringing a new band and a new musical genre.

The lineup includes dance band Funktastic Soul, blues artist Steve Arvey, Banjo Bob with Trailer Tricks and Finger Picks, reggae band Jah Movement, Celtic band Blue Skye Pipe and Drums,Trey Wanvig and “rising stars” from Music Compound.

The Music Compound is the organizer of the festival. The Sarasota facility bills itself as “an environment to inspire, collaborate and educate children and adults in pursuit of their love of music” and offers instructions and camps in addition to shows and open mic nights.
