Green Day has achieved massive mainstream popularity, released a platinum-selling ballad, collaborated on a Broadway musical built around its songs and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Along the way, the band has still kept its punk credibility.

The band has also kept the same three members since 1990 — singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool. They’ll take to the stage as Green Day brings its Revolution Radio tour to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Tuesday.

Opening the show is the Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen, who scored a big international hit with their 2014 debut album “The Balcony,” and really hit it big with the follow up, last year’s “The Ride.” “The Ride” made it to No. 2 on the U.S. alternative chart and No. 3 on the U.S. rock chart.

Green Day had a burgeoning reputation in alternative music circles for several years before the band exploded into the mainstream in 1994 with its album “Dookie” and the singles “Longview” and “When I Come Around.” The band’s biggest hit single was “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” a lovely ballad set to string music. In 2010, “American Idiot,” a musical built around Green Day music (and for a short time starring Armstrong) hit Broadway, garnering a couple Tony Awards.

The band’s latest album is “Revolution Radio,” which topped the charts after its release in October 2016.
