If your taste in pop music developed in the 1980s, you probably loved Mariah Carey or Lionel Richie. Maybe you loved both, and maybe you still do.

If so, their U.S. tour, which they’re calling “All the Hits,” may be cause for celebration. The tour stops at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Friday.

The 22-city tour has been on the road for a few weeks — it started July 21, which was four months after the originally scheduled start date — and both the crowds and the reviews have been impressive. Carey and Richie are billed as co-headliners, but Carey, who hasn’t toured for six years, has been the opener.

As the tour’s title suggests, Carey’s set has been heavy on her hits, of which there are many. She also offers some of her latest material as well as album cuts that are favorites of her most-devoted fans. She switches up the deep cuts so that each show is different.

Richie may have even more hits to choose from, and he’s been opening by going way back to his days with the Commodores, with the easy-listening classic “Easy.” In fact, a big chunk of his set has been made up of Commodores songs, including the funky “Brick House.”
