Val Kilmer will be on stage and on screen at Tampa Improv
You probably never thought about seeing a movie in a comedy club. You almost certainly never thought about seeing Val Kilmer in a comedy club.
But you can do both of those things at once on Tuesday. Kilmer is touring the country with a film version of his one-man play, “Citizen Twain.”
Best known as a film actor — he’s played everyone from Jim Morrison and Elvis Presley to Batman and Moses — Kilmer also wrote the stage version of “Citizen Twain,” in which he portrays the iconic artist, and adapted it for the film which he directed.
The event is titled “Val Kilmer Live Presents Cinema Twain,” and it will be at the Tampa Improv in Ybor City on Tuesday evening. He’ll introduce the film, which is about 90 minutes long, and then hold a Q&A session with the audience afterward.
Those who pay extra for VIP tickets get to hang out with Kilmer after the Q&A and have their pictures taken with him.
Reports are that the film is quite good. Kilmer apparently is fascinated by Twain and had already made a one-person film titled “Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy,” about Twain’s criticism of the founder of Christian Science.
By the way, even if your kids love Mark Twain and Val Kilmer, you’ll have to leave them at home. You have to be at least 21 to get into the Improv for this show.
