The pirate is now looking at 70, and the Parrotheads still turn out in force for his shows.

Jimmy Buffett, who has cultivated a laid-back care-free island image that belies his success as an entertainer, a best-selling author and businessman, has been making albums for 47 years. His days as a frequent hit-maker are probably behind him, but his legions of fans, who call themselves Parrotheads, still flock to his concerts.

Lots of them doubtless will be on hand when Buffett comes to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Saturday.

Buffett’s now 70, and he doesn’t tour much these days — he plays just a couple of dozen shows a year — but he’s still cranking out albums. His 29th studio album, “’Tis the SeaSon,” came out late last year. (It’s a Christmas album, so he probably won’t be doing any songs from it in his June 3 show.

But as every Parrothead knows, there are some songs that Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band plays at almost every show, including “Margaritaville,” “Come Monday,” “Fins,” “A Pirate Looks at Forty” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”

He’s best known for novelty songs, but especially in his early years he wrote some very pretty folk ballads, and Buffett’s band, which has a fluid membership, generally includes a lot of top-notch players.
