Legendary Barbra Streisand performs at Tampa’s Amalie Arena

She won the first of her 15 Grammy Awards 53 years ago, and her first of her seven Oscars six years after that.

Her most recent album, which came out in August, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 200 chart. She has more No. 1 albums than any other female singer in history.

She’s such a huge star that word of a new concert tour immediately causes a stir in the entertainment industry. It’s especially big news locally when that tour includes a stop in Tampa. Streisand, 73, has never played in this area before.

The big night is Wednesday, when Streisand will be at Amalie Arena with her national tour, which she’s calling “The Music ... The Mem’ries ... The Magic!”

The title would lead one to believe that the concert will be something of a career retrospective, which should make for a spectacular show. Among her hits are “Happy Days Are Here Again,” “People,” “Evergreen,” “Memory,” “Guilty,” “Woman in Love,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” and “The Way We Were.”

Her 1967 “A Christmas Album” is one of the most popular holiday albums of all time, and it may not be too early in the year for her to perform a song or two from that record.

She’s been known for duets over the years, including hits with Barry Gibb and Neil Diamond, and her latest album “Encore” consists of Streisand singing duets of Broadway show tunes with such stars as Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin and St. Petersburg’s Patrick Wilson. There’s no word on any of them joining her on stage, but one can hope.
