Daniel Tosh headlines charity comedy show in Sarasota
If you love hyperbole, you have to appreciate the title of the touring comedy show that will stop at Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Saturday. And if you love stand-up comedy, you have to appreciate the lineup.
The show’s called “Tosh Saves the World,” and the headliner is Daniel Tosh. He’s best known as the star of the hit series “Tosh.0” on Comedy Central.
The annual tour is called “Tosh Saves the World” because the money from the tickets goes to charity, although the specific charities are not named.
The show is slated for two performances, at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Tosh is known, at least on his TV show, for controversial comedy that a lot of people find offensive. A lot of people find it hilarious too, especially young men, who make up a sizable chuck of the show’s audience. Maybe he’ll tone it down a bit for a charity audience, but maybe not.
Joining Tosh in his efforts to save the world are comics Todd Glass, Greg Hahn and Eddie Gossling.
Glass is a frequent guest on TV shows and is perhaps best known for his appearances on the second and third seasons of “Last Comic Standing.” Hahn is a Floridian who appears regularly on “The Bob & Tom Show” on radio. Gossling voiced the role of Scraw in the animated film “The Wild.”
Details: 7 and 9:30 p.m. Nov. 26, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. $79.83. 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
