A new judge has been assigned to hear a motion to dismiss a lawsuit former Manatee High School football coach Joe Kinnan is bringing against the School Board of Manatee County and former administrators after two judges recused themselves.

Senior Circuit Judge Lee Haworth will hear the district’s motion to dismiss an amended suit Kinnan filed in March at 10 a.m. on Aug. 22. The original case was dismissed in January.

“I’ve confirmed that this matter has been reassigned and we have a hearing date,” school district general counsel Mitch Teitelbaum said.

Kinnan is suing the school board, former superintendent Rick Mills and former investigator for the school board Troy Pumphreys. Kinnan says former board members Karen Carpenter and Julie Aranibar worked with administrators to force him out of the district and destroy his reputation.
