The Bradenton Marauders (10-21) fell 6-3 to the Lakeland Flying Tigers (12-14) on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. Alen Hanson hit his seventh homer of the season and second in as many games for the Marauders. Pat Ludwig (L, 0-1) started for Bradenton. He surrendered the first run of the game on a solo homer by Jeff McVaney leading off the third inning. A single and an error put the next two batters on, leading to Lakeland taking a 3-0 lead by way of two unearned runs in the inning. Hanson got the Marauders on the board with his clout in the bottom half. The Flying Tigers used a two-out rally in the fifth inning to chase Ludwig, stretching the lead to 4-1. Tom Harlan surrendered an unearned run in the sixth inning. The Marauders closed to within 5-3 on a two-RBI single by Benji Gonzalez in the home half of the sixth inning. The final run of the game came on a solo homer by Jason Krizan in the top of the ninth off Emmanuel De Leon. Tommy Collier (W, 1-2) struck out seven Marauders over five innings to earn his first win. Slade Smith pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings out of the pen after the Marauders climbed to within two runs. Jose Valdez faced the minimum in the ninth, striking out Gonzalez and getting Hanson to ground into a double play to end the game. Valez earned his seventh save. The series finale is Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Robby Rowland will be on the mound for the Marauders against Jeff Ferrell for the Flying Tigers.
