Bradenton Marauders

A look at the Florida State League

The Florida State League is a high Single-A affiliate of Major League Baseball and one step below Double-A. It is a 12-team league with two divisions, FSL North and FSL South.

The season is split into two halves. At the conclusion of the regular season, the first and second-half winners from each division meet to decide the division championship in a best-of-three series. The North and South champions then play in a best-of-five league championship series.

If the same team in a division wins both halves, the team with the next overall record in the division qualifies for the playoffs as a wild card.

The FSL began as a Class-D league in 1919 but folded in 1928. The league resumed play in 1936 and was bumped to Class-A status beginning in 1963.

Below is a rundown of the current FSL teams.
