ODA improves to 8-1
The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team improved to 8-1 for the season with a 10-6 victory Monday over the host Lakewood Ranch Mustangs.
Austin Hoppe's two-run homer led an 11-hit attack, and Cameron Smalley pitched three innings in relief, allowing two runs and three hits to earn the win.
Three Thunder batters had multi-hit games: Desmond Lindsay (two singles, triple, two RBIs); Carson Jungers (three hits, three RBIs); and Parke Phillips (single, double, RBI).
Max Munroe earned a save with an inning of no-hit work.
Colton Chupp lead the Mustangs with a triple, a single and three RBIs.
BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 7, BAYSHORE 6 -- Derek Caparella had a double and three RBIs, Jake Lister added two RBIs, and the visiting Panthers beat the Bruins.
Wade Carter added an RBI, and Aaron Downard had two singles for the Panthers (4-6). Carter struck out four and allowed a hit and one run in three innings of relief to earn the win.
Bradenton Christian's JV squad beat the host Out-of-Door Academy Thunder 3-1.
The Manatee Hurricanes JV team beat Bayshore 13-0 as Zane Morrison pitched a complete game of five innings for the host Canes (5-4), allowing a hit and fanning five. Jarod Dole went 2-for-3, and Zach Rodgers was 2-for-2 for Manatee.
BRADEN RIVER 2, RIVERVIEW 1 -- The host Pirates (6-5) scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the tie and defeat the Rams.
Leading the Pirates' offense were Cole Pencosky (2-for-3) and Zacc Wiedeman (2-for-2, run).
Eric Kimsey pitched six innings, allowing one earned run and five hits, striking out three and walking two. Matt Tarrill pitched one inning in relief to earn the win.
SAINT STEPHEN'S 21, ST. PETERSBURG KESWICK CHRISTIAN 8 -- The visiting Falcons (3-5-1) played every member of the team a romp of the Crusaders. Claudia Sbaschnik lead the Falcons' offensive attack with five hits and two RBIs. Lindsay Barton added four hits and two RBIs, and Sam Burgess clubbed a home run.
BRADEN RIVER 9, BAYSHORE 3 -- Bethaney Keen went 3-for-4 with double, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Pirates (9-4) over the visiting Bruins. Casey Farrow went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run in the 10-hit attack. Lexi Phelps earned the win, pitching four innings with five strikeouts.
