Local roundup | Southeast girls win on milestone night for Palmetto's Jermisha Collins

Palmetto's Jermisha Collins scored her 2,000th career point on Senior Night, but the host Tigers fell to Southeast 70-46 on Friday.

Seminoles freshman Sophie Giardina scored a career-high 30 points, hitting five 3-pointers, as Southeast finished the regular season 21-4. Tay Green added 12 points, and Breyonna Reed had 11. Marline Valcin pulled down 14 rebounds, and Johnelle Clark had 11.

Collins, a senior, poured in 26 points. Palmetto (13-10) stopped the game to honor her career milestone.

BAYSHORE 74, SARASOTA MILITARY ACADEMY  29 -- Joy Norman put the Bruins on her back en route to a rout, scoring 40 points and pulling down 11 boards as Bayshore rocked the host Eagles.

Norman's 39th point gave her 1,000 career points with the Bruins. She became just the second player to accomplish that feat for the girls basketball program.

Taylor Izatt added 11 points for Bayshore (18-6).

Boys basketball

TAMPA JESUIT 72, CARDINAL MOONEY 70 (2OT) -- Christian Whidden knocked down two free throws with 1.5 second left to hand the host Tigers a thrilling victory over the Cougars.

Ryan McMahon scored a season-high 37 points for Cardinal Mooney (20-2). Justin Najmy contributed 15 points and eight assists, and Blair Perry had 12 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

NORTH PORT 46, BRADEN RIVER 31 -- The Bobcats outscored the host Pirates 17-7 in the third quarter to pull away a post a Class 7A-District 10 victory.

Deondrick Bacon scored 16 points for Braden River (10-11, 3-5).

SAINT STEPHEN'S 65, ST. PETERSBURG CANTERBURY  63 -- The visiting Falcons were led by the hot shooting of Jake Westberry, who dropped in 29 points and snagged 12 rebounds as Saint Stephen's edged the Crusaders. Jordon Murrell added 11 points, five rebounds and five steals; Nick Runde had 10 points, four rebounds and three blocks; and Sid Price added 10 points and four steals for the Falcons (6-13).

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN  72, BAYSHORE 60 -- J.T. Noellert's 17 points led the visiting Panthers past the Bruins.

Vincent Rehfeldt, Jake Lister and Ryan Leunk each added 11 points for Bradenton Christian (15-5).

ST. PETERSBURG GIBBS  74, SOUTHEAST 65 -- Tre Alexandrea aided the Seminoles with 16 points and five assists, and Ronald Taylor dropped 25 points for visiting Southeast, but the Noles couldn't hold on against the host Gladiators.

Cor3y Davis added 13 points and six rebounds for Southeast (11-13).
