Local roundup | McMahon's 29 leads Cougars past Vikings in boys hoops

Ryan McMahon again paced the host Cougars, dropping 29 points to lead Cardinal Mooney past the Vikings.

Mitch Arimura chipped in 10 points and 4 boards, Blair Perry added 8 points and 5 steals, and Justin Najmy tallied 7 assists for the Cougars (20-1).

SANTA FE CATHOLIC 58, SAINT STEPHEN'S 45 -- Jake Westberry's double-double led the Falcons, tallying 16 points and 12 boards, but the hosts couldn't overcome the Hawks.

Jordon Murrell added 18 points and 5 steals, and Sid Price dropped 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for Saint Stephen's (5-13).

Girls basketball

LAKEWOOD RANCH 55, BAYSHORE 46 -- LaDazhia Williams dropped 12 points, had 5 boards and 3 steals as the host Mustangs defeated the Bruins.

Elise Spiller added 11 points and 2 assists for Lakewood Ranch (17-8). Kyra Klarkowski tallied 10 points and 4 boards, and Kailyn Scully had 10 points, 5 boards and 2 steals.

Taylor Izatt led the way for Bayshore with 18 points, 3 boards and 3 steals.

PALMETTO 47, ST. PETERSBURG GIBBS 17 -- Jermisha Collins scored 22 points to lead the host Tigers over the Gladiators.

Collins needs 41 more points this season to reach 2,000 for her prep career.

Destine Johnson added 12 points, and Taylor Rozier chipped in six for the Tigers (18-7).

MANATEE 56, CARDINAL MOONEY 42 -- Jada Guion paced the Canes offense with 24 points and 6 assists, and Jackie Armer was all over the glass, pulling down 25 boards and adding 12 points as host Manatee defeated the Cougars.

Deanay Watson also ripped down 11 rebounds to go with 6 points for Manatee (7-14).

Boys soccer

SOUTHEAST 1, TAMPA ROBINSON 0 -- The Seminoles scored a second-half goal in the Class 3A-District 9 semifinal to advance to Friday's final.

Southeast (15-4) will meet the tournament's host, Tampa Jesuit, at 7 p.m. Friday in the final.
