Manatee HEAT beat Sailors, honor seniors

Macenzie Krause fired eight aces and served up 22 points to lead the Manatee HEAT volleyball team to a 17-25, 25-22, 25-11, 25-13 triumph over visiting Sarasota on Senior Night.

Isabella LaVassaur added 15 kills, and Mariah Dunlop pitched in with 12 for the HEAT (13-1). Courtney Krause recorded 24 assists and 12 kills.

BAYSHORE 3, SOUTHEAST 0 -- The host Bruins swept their way to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-13 victory over the Seminoles in Class 5A-District 10 action to leave Bayshore, Southeast and Gulfport Boca Ciega atop the standings with two losses apiece. Joy Norman had 10 kills to lead the Bruins (6-12, 5-2). Kristen Fleury had 20 assists, four aces and four digs, and Ashlyn Davis had four kills.

Emma Bartges led Southeast (11-10, 5-2) got eight kills from Emma Bartges and five kills from Marline Valcin. Molly Persson contributed 10 assists.

CARDINAL MOONEY 3, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 1 -- Maddie McNalley's 14 kills paved the way for the visiting Cougars in a 25-13, 25-12, 17-25, 25-18 triumph in Class 3A-District 10. Keri McMahon came up with 10 kills and 13 digs for Cardinal Mooney. Annie Shaw added 29 assists and nine digs.

Girls golf

MANATEE 190, PALMETTO 253 -- Gianna Tomeo and Danielle Wolfe each fired a 39 as the host Hurricanes (13-3) cruised at Manatee County Golf Course. Sydney Lang shot a 51 for the Tigers.

Boys golf

MANATEE 118, PALMETTO 121 -- The Hurricanes eked out a victory at Imperial Lakewoods in a match shortened to six holes by lightning. Richard Bennett's 26 paced Manatee (8-9). Palmetto got 30s from Cameron Creque, Josh Whitson and Shane Halter.

CARDINAL MOONEY 166, BOOKER 229 -- The Cardinals eased to victory behind 40s from Jake LaMore and Michael Staikos.
