The Bayshore volleyball team dropped the opening set but rallied to upend host Palmetto 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 in non-district action Tuesday.
Joy Norman led the way with 19 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. JoJo Muldoon contributed 10 kills, and Kristen Fleury had 26 assists and 10 digs for the Bruins (2-6).
SOUTHEAST 3, ST. PETERSBURG LAKEWOOD 0 -- The host Seminoles swept the Spartans 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 in Class 5A-District 10 play behind 12 kills from Emma Bartges.
Southeast (6-4, 4-0) also got six aces and six digs from Richamily Robles and 10 assists, four kills and four aces from Molly Persson. Marline Valcin and Emma Rissman also had four kills apiece.
BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 3, IMAGINE SCHOOL OF NORTH PORT 0 -- Haley Waldo led the way with 18 assists and 11 aces as the visiting Panthers (5-5, 1-2 Class 3A-District 10) rolled by the Sharks 25-5, 25-11, 25-15 in district play.
SAINT STEPHEN'S 3, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 2 -- The visiting Falcons outlasted the Thunder in a Class 3A-District 10 thriller, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24, 26-28, 15-11.
Bryce Liebel had 41 assists, 19 digs and three aces for Saint Stephen's (4-2, 2-1). Kassandra Woodruff added 23 digs, 19 kills, five blocks and four aces, and Sophie Bilik had 16 kills, 17 digs and three blocks.
CARDINAL MOONEY 3, TAMPA CATHOLIC 2 -- The host Cougars came away with a 22-25, 25-18, 13-25, 25-23, 16-14 victory.
Maddie McNally led Cardinal Mooney with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Keri McMahon had nine kills and 15 digs. Maria Soscia recorded 24 digs.
G.T. BRAY TRI-MEET -- Saint Stephen's swept the boys and girls team events against Southeast and Bayshore at G.T. Bray park.
Lauri Schleicher had a hand in four victories for the Falcons girls, who scored 132 points to Bayshore's 92 and Southeast's 45. Schleicher won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and swam on winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Kristen Brockett won the 100 backstroke and swam on both relay teams, and Kristi Schleicher was a part of three winning relay teams.
The Bayshore girls got two victories in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley from Michelle Narvaez.
In the boys meet, Kyle Koughan led Saint Stephen's with wins in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay. The Falcons scored 107 points to defeat Southeast (95) and Bayshore 64).
Southeast's Austin Lambert and Alex Mukiewicz each contributed three victories. Lambert won the 200 freestyle, Mukiewicz took the 50 freestyle, and both swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. T.C. Smith led the Bruins by winning the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.
OUT-OF-DOOR VS. ST. PETERSBURG NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN -- The Thunder swept the Mustangs at Seminole, the boys winning 94-73 and the girls claiming a 102-66 triumph.
ODA's boys got two individual wins apiece from Charlie Hayes (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Sarsen Whatmore (200 and 500 freestyle) and Laszlo Tengerdy (50 and 100 freestyle).
Joie Eckhard won the 200 and 500 freestyle events to lead the Thunder girls. Kate Patrice won the 200 individual medley and joined Eckhard on winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Imola Csendes claimed the 50 freestyle and swam on the winning relay teams.
RIVERVIEW 159, MANATEE 160 -- The Rams (12-2) held off the Hurricanes at IMG Academy, spoiling a match-low score for Manatee's Richard Bennett, who shot a 35.
Harrison Fuller holed out with a 39 for Manatee (4-6).
LAKEWOOD RANCH QUAD MEET -- Lakewood Ranch shot a 1-under-par 143 as a team on the King's Dunes course at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and cruised past Punta Gorda Charlotte (163), Palmetto (200) and Southeast (223).
Kelly Sun paced the Mustangs (14-2) with a 2-under-par 34. Sophomores Louie DelFabro and Billy Herten had 36s, and freshman Mike Wijas had a 37.
William Kelly led the Seminoles (1-7) with a 41. Palmetto, which got a 48 from Josh Wilson, is (1-7), while Charlotte fell to 11-2.
SARA BAY TRI-MATCH -- Bradenton Christian's Landry Miller was the medalist with a 1-under-par 35, but Saint Stephen's defeated the Panthers and Sarasota Christian at Sara Bay.
The Falcons shot a 151 to the Panthers' 156 and the Blazers' 157. Philip Knowles carded a 36 for BCS (6-2).
Jack Tianyi Cen and Ryan Kinkead each fired 37s for the Falcons (4-2).
OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 156, CARDINAL MOONEY 158 -- The host Thunder slipped past the Cougars behind a 37 from Max Coutsolioutsos and a 38 from Jon Eichenbaum.
Kyle Jarrett led Cardinal Mooney with a 37, and Jake LaMore had a 39.
LAKEWOOD RANCH 180, MANATEE 181 -- Sisters Gabrielle and Gianna Tomeo led all scorers with a 36 and 37, respectively, but the host Hurricanes (1-1) fell to the Mustangs at Manatee County Golf Course. Theresa Morrissey and Sophia Warren paced Lakewood Ranch (2-1) with 43s.
PALMETTO 230, SOUTHEAST 268 -- The Tigers (4-1) defeated the Seminoles over nine holes at Terra Ceia Bay Country Club, led by Samantha Gaitanis, who shot a match-low 56.
