Prep baseball | Lakewood Ranch heading to state after 4-1 victory over Winter Haven

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Tyler Dauphinee hit a three-run double in the first inning, and Bryan VanVranken homered in the bottom of the sixth to give the Lakewood Ranch baseball team a 4-1 victory over visiting Winter Haven in the Class 6A-Region 3 final Friday.

Ace Seth McGarry pitched a complete game for the Mustangs. Lakewood Ranch will play Southwest Ranches Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy on Thursday in the state semifinal at Digital Domain Park in Port St. Lucie. The time has not yet been determined. The state final is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 18 in Port St. Lucie.

Winter Haven scored a run in the top of the third inning without benefit of a hit.
