Noles beat Tigers in Berkeley Prep tourney

Southeast defeated Palmetto 47-30 in the finals of the Tampa Berkeley Prep Duals wrestling tournament on Saturday.

Southeast had eight wrestlers finish undefeated at 4-0 - Edison Dohms (125 pounds), Matt Talbert (135), Carrington Cox (140), Anthony Torro (145), Chet Scott (152), Orlando Hamilton (160), Daniel Davis (171) and Benson Eustache (189).

Jarred Foster (185) and Alex Duval (285) both finished 2-0 for the Noles, who improved their record to 14-7.

Three Palmetto wrestlers went undefeated in four matches - Jeff McCloskey (103), Trevor Bishop (112) and Adam Tanner (215), who is 22-0 this season. Four other Tigers - Joey Rebella (119), Randy Coulter (152), Anthony Hubbard (189) and Dominique Walker (285) - went 3-1.

Palmetto Ridge Dodge Duals

Manatee went 6-1 and finished second, falling to South Dade 31-30 in the finals, while Bayshore finished 14th out of 16 teams in the dual-meet tournament.

The Canes beat the No. 1-ranked team in Class 1A, Palmetto Ridge, 34-25 in the semifinals to give coach Andy Gugliemini his 200th career win.

Manatee had two wrestlers who went a perfect 7-0 - Andrew Fulk (189) and Richie Cunningham (215). Radar Riley (145) and Richard Dahlin (Heavyweight) went 6-1 as the Canes improved their record to 15-4.

Senior Daniel Sapuppo (152 pounds) went 6-1 for Bayshore (12-11), while Jordan Schopser (171) and Marshall Greene (130) both finished 4-3.

Indian Rocks Christian 39

Jennifer Tinnell scored 15 points and had three steals as the visiting Falcons defeated the Golden Eagles for the first time in school history.

Saint Stephen's led 18-12 at halftime, then fell behind 37-24 midway through the fourth quarter.

The Falcons outscored Indian Rocks Christian 18-2 the rest of the game using a full court press.

Saint Stephen's hit 10 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter, and Tinnell scored eight of her 15 points in the final period.

The score was tied at 78-all when the Trojans hit a 3-pointer to go ahead 81-78 with 34 seconds left.

MCC called a timeout with six seconds left, and Lamonte Huston missed a 3-pointer to tie the game as time expired.
