Juco baseball | State College of Florida wins state tournament opener

LAKELAND -- Conner Hale's three-run triple in the top of the eighth inning erased a 1-0 deficit and led the State College of Florida baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Santa Fe College in the Manatee's first game at the Florida College Systems Activities Assocation state tournament at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Dayan Rodriguez pitched 7 2/3 innings for the win, striking out 11 and allowing five hits and five walks. Devin Raftery got the save, striking out three in 1 1/3 innings.

Hale collected two of SCF's three hits. Josh Allen squeezed home Dalton Busby with the Manatees' fourth run.

The Manatees (33-15-1) meet Chipola College at 7 p.m. today in the second round.
