Dayan Rodriguez threw six shutout innings to lift the State College of Florida baseball team to an 11-0 victory in seven innings Wednesday at South Florida Community College, clinching a 17th straight state tournament berth for the SCF program.

The Manatees (30-13-1, 12-5) are in first place in the Suncoast Conference with three games to play. The top two teams in the conference standings advance to the state tournament.

Rodriguez allowed four hits and struck out two.

Connor Hale led the offense by going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Orlando Rivera was on base four times with two hits and two walks, and Omar Garcia had two hits. Braden River product Dalton Busby drove in a pair of runs.


BRADEN RIVER 6, KETTERING (OHIO) ALTER 1 -- Dylan Lee went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in to lead the Pirates to a victory over the Knights, a team visiting Florida on spring break.

Myles Straw added two hits and scored twice, and Kelly Machuca had two hits and two RBIs for Braden River, which improved to 13-9.

Starter Ryan Fischer got the win, pitching four innings, allowing an earned run on five hits and striking out three.


SAINT STEPHEN'S 18, BOOKER 3 (3) -- Becca Banks drove in six runs and scored three times as the host Falcons (4-10) made quick work of the Tornadoes.

Alison Kanter, the winning pitcher, added three runs and three stolen bases. Kirsten Samuels scored three times and drove in a pair of runs.
