JUCO softball: SCF drops doubleheader

FORT PIERCE -- State College of Florida lost a doubleheader Sunday to Indian River State College by scores of 4-2 and 10-3.

In the first game, the Manatees’ Ingrid Cabrera pitched a one-hit complete game that went into extra innings. The game ended in the River’s favor after a runner reached on single and advanced on an error and sacrafice bunt before scoring on a bases-loaded walk. Leading the Manatees’ offense was Stephanie Shoup, who went 1-for-4 and scored a run.

In the second game, the Manatees (10-8) were led at the plate by Kelsey Maffucci, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Shoup was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Amber Evans was 2-for-3.

The Manatees are at home for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Lake Sumpter.
