Jupiter edges Bradenton 3-2

The Marauders lost a close game Thursday night, and also saw right fielder Tito Polo ejected by first base umpire Edwin Moscoso.

After each team scored in the first inning, the game stayed tied until the top of the seventh, when Avery Romero singled to center, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After Chris Hoo was hit by a pitch and Tanner Anderson replaced starter Yeudy Garcia, Marauders catcher Taylor Gushue allowed a passed ball that advanced the runners to second and third. A fielder’s choice plated a run and a ground out forced in another run.

The Hammerheads had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Junior Sosa, and Sosa went to second on an error. He advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a base hit. The Marauders tied the game after Kevin Cramer and Chase Simpson walked, then Jerrick Suiter doubled in a run. Wyall Mathisen hit into a fielder’s choice and Simpson was thrown out at home.

Bradenton tried to come back in the last of the eighth after Jordan Luplow doubled and moved to third on an error. Simpson singled to right to score Luplow. Kramer and Simpson advanced on a wild pitch, but on a fielder’s choice Kramer was thrown out at the plate.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Marauders threatened after Michael Suchy singled and Trace Tam Sing walked, but Luplow struck out and Kramer flied out to left to end the game.
