Shuffleboard players and fans can purchase arguably the best bargain in sports literature anywhere. All serious players need this bargain.
For only one dollar, you get the schedule for all Florida and district tournaments from Oct. 5 to April 9. Florida Rules begin on page 126. Other states and countries have their own pages. Much history is included and many records, such as winners last year, halls of fame, etc. This 2014-15 Florida Prevue issue has photos on the cover of Southwest Coast District players and venues.
Too bad Tri-Par President Ken Carrel did not survive to see himself as a "cover boy." Happily, the other 75 of us can enjoy our own pictures and be reminded of Ken.
The center spread, pages 74-75, is the State Schedule at both Open and Amateur levels. For those who keep track of such things and care, I have discovered two errors on the center spread. First, FL P-7A Nov. 17 at Bradenton says lunch, but there will be no lunch. We must bring our own lunch at Bradenton as we have for a few years. Secondly, FL A-14B Jan. 19 at Bradenton Tropical Palms says no lunch, but there will be lunch, according to the schedules we have in this district.

This issue also contains advice on how to play, mostly taken from Lary Faris' writings from the 1980s and 1990s.
Another huge issue of which we are reminded by Southwest Coast District President Ron Nurnberger is the punishment by the state to be meted out if anyone tries to "buy" points, such as "You can have the money for the win if I can have the points." (Falsifying the court card is an example.) Temporary or permanent suspension is serious and can be avoided by the honesty expected of good sports.

SWCD D-3, Oct. 23, Any Draw Doubles (16 frames/75 pts) at Bradenton. Main: 1. Ron Nurnberger-Ralph Lozano, 2. Jim Smith-Marion Seigler, 3. Faren Van De Grift-Terri Smith, 4. Bill Reinbolt-Pam Nurnberger. Consolation: 1. Jim Clark-Jim Miller, 2. Evelyn White-Mike Marquis, 3. Delmer Kohorst-Kathy Boutwell, 4. Judy Cross-Marie Hunter.
Tuesday is the second day of FL P-4A at Lee County and P-4B at Betmar. M/L Doubles; also FL A-1 at Clearwater, Any Amaters/Any Doubles.
Thursday, SWCD D-4 at Tri-Par, Draw Doubles Restricted to State Ams and Pros, M/L Divisions, 16 frames or 75 points, whichever comes first.
Friday at Tri-Par SWCD A-1 District Ams, Draw Any Doubles, 16 frames or 75 points. Note that A-1 this year is the first lower division tournament in about 15 years where State Ams may also play. It is supposed that only a small number of State Ams are likely to take this option as it would not earn Open Master Points or move up points.
Nov. 3 FL P-6 at Bradenton, National Singles, M/L, Walking and Non-Walking. (Each Division requires 16 walking entries, or merge with non-walking division.)
Nov. 3, FL A-2 at Lakeland, Any Ams/Any Doubles.
Reminder, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bradenton, Open District Board Meeting. Urge your president to represent your shuffle club.
