UPCOMING EVENTS

Jan. 28-29: The fifth annual Manatee County Open Golf Championship, the “Rumble on the River,” will be played Jan. 28 and 29 at River Wilderness Golf & Country Club in Parrish. The event will feature 36 holes of individual stroke-play competition. The field is open to all professionals and amateurs, male and female. Entrants do not need to be Manatee County residents. The entry fee is $125 per player and includes two round and range balls. Entry forms are at www.riverwildernesscc.com. Ongoing: Champions MMA, 1980 First St., offers several classes to keep children active as well as build and maintain confidence and a positive attitude. Lil Champions Kids Classes for ages 4-8 are held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. Champions Youth Classes for ages 9-13 are held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. Champions MMA also offers professional instruction in kickboxing, Brazilian jui-jitsu, wrestling, Muay Tai and fun fitness cardio MMA games. Classes for beginners, advanced and fighters both amateur and pro are offered to men and women ages 13 and older from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
