May 4: River Run Golf Links is forming summer leagues. The Wednesday League begins at 5:30 p.m. May 4. Registration is $35 and $10.50 each week of play. Prizes and awards banquets are included in the registration fee. A Friday League is for couples and is a four-person scramble with registration at $40 per couple and $21 per week of play. May 7-8: Bradenton Country Club will host a USTA Junior Tennis tournament for boys and girls 10s-18s. Register online at usta.com. The deadline is May 4.
May 13: The Manatee County Parks and Recreation Department is forming the 2011 Summer Adult Co-Ed Kickball League and a new Summer Lakewood Ranch Adult Co-Ed Kickball League. League play will begin May 13 at G.T. Bray park and/or Palma Sola for the Manatee league and Lakewood Ranch Park for the Lakewood Ranch league. The team registration fee is $400, which includes team shirts for a roster of up to 20 players. An organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 19 at the G.T. Bray park recreation center. May 20: The Lakewood Ranch YMCA will host its first golf marathon to raise funds for scholarships. Players will shoot 100 holes of golf in one day at Royal Lakes Course in Country Club East. The day begins with an 8:30 a.m. tee-off. There are spaces for 36 golfers who will secure pledges per hole played. Tennis, drills, tournaments, prizes and swimming will be offered. Lunch provided. The cost is $155, $205 for guests.
June 13-16: The Manatee Volleyball Camp will be held in two sessions, 8 a.m.-noon for girls with fewer than two years experience and 1-5 p.m. for girls with more than two years experience. The camp, which will be led by Manatee High volleyball coaches, costs $100 and will be held in the Manatee High gymnasium.
