TAMPA - Emergency crews responded to the home of longtime New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner on Monday night, Bay News 9 is reporting.
Steinbrenner, a Tampa resident, was reportedly taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
He celebrated his 80th birthday on July 4. He told the Associated Press last week he was "feeling good" after spending a couple hours in his office at the Yankees' spring training complex.
He has been the owner of the New York Yankees since 1973. During that time, the Yankees won 11 pennants and seven World Series titles.
Bay News 9 reports that he is in "very grave" condition.
