Mitchell Robinson Sends Concerning Message Amid Cavs-Knicks Series

The New York Knicks have been on an impressive run through the NBA Playoffs, winning nine consecutive games, and currently hold a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Everything appears to be smooth sailing on the surface, but potentially not for one of their reserve big men, as Mitchell Robinson recently revealed he was attempting to get his mental health back on track.

Robinson, coming off his eighth season with the Knicks, shared a concerning update on his social media, informing fans he was deleting all apps after an “unsettling experience” recently, which he said he wouldn’t provide further details on.

“On the playoffs and myself I know some of you have called and texted and it popped up green thats because I got a new number my mental health is not the best right now but I am fighting to get back on track while playing on the biggest stage in the World the Eastern Conference finals thank you all for the love and support you bring it will never go unnoticed I truly appreciate yall,” Robinson also wrote in his message.

New York’s big man shared a Facebook update on Thursday with a similar message about his situation, indicating he was looking to remain focused on the task at hand: winning the NBA Playoffs with his team.

“Last post before I delete this app I finally have changed my number for many reason…as I fight through and keep fighting in this playoffs run my focus have to go to another level. This is the start of a new chapter in my life Love and will miss y’all…. Mitch out,” he wrote.

Robinson gives the Knicks valuable minutes off the bench, often coming in to relieve Karl-Anthony Towns when he needs rest or is in foul trouble. Through these playoffs, he’s averaging 5.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 74.2% from the field.

He played 14 minutes and 12 minutes, respectively, in the two Knicks’ wins over the Cavaliers, scoring four points each outing and recording at least four rebounds in each game.

He’s not the only Knicks player who has indicated he isn’t using social media or paying attention to it. His teammate, Jalen Brunson, who has been the team’s leader in many of their big wins, said at a press conference he wasn’t looking at social media during the postseason.

The Knicks have seemed determined to reach the NBA Finals, which they are now two wins away from. However, one must hope that Robinson also finds the help he needs as he addresses his off-court situation and mental health.

It seems he has enough people around him to reach out to for support if he needs it, and with the recent update, one would think others are aware of his current situation and will ensure he’s alright.
