UCF football lands 2027 commitment from 3-star Nease safety

UCF football continues to build on its 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star Nease High School safety Kash Kolbow.

Entering his senior year, the 6-foot, 180-pound Kolbow has accounted for 95 tackles, including two tackles for loss, with five interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 34 passes defended in 22 games in two seasons, according to MaxPreps.com. He also spent time as a kick returner for the Golden Panthers.

Kolbow, who is from Ponte Vedra Beach, committed to the Knights after receiving more than two dozen offers, including from schools such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and FAU.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Kolbow is the No. 113-ranked safety in the 2027 class and the No. 115-ranked player in the state.

He's the fifth high school prospect to verbally commit to UCF this cycle, joining running back Connail Jackson, edge rusher Noah Robinson, receiver Jamal Robinson Jr. and tight end Tanner Ehmen.

UCF's 2027 class currently ranks 59th nationally according to 247Sports' composite rankings and 12th overall in the Big 12.

All verbal commitments are non-binding but can become official during the early signing period in December.

UCF coach Scott Frost discussed his program's philosophy regarding high school recruiting last month.

"You've always got to be building your program from the bottom up," said Frost. "High school recruiting is going to continue to be important for what we're building. Every kid that we can develop in-house is probably better than going out into the portal and trying to replace somebody.

"We've got to pick the right ones. The coaches will be diligent about that in May, and we'll get a chance to look at some kids here during camps in June."
