Regarding Manatee County's Central Library, it is now a large space nearly devoid of books. Thousands of books removed so the library can be in "compliance."
Libraries are for books! Of course a wheelchair must be able to get through an aisle, but why does our government always seem to go from one extreme to the other?
There is now nothing but an empty feeling when I walk in -- and for what? So my taxes, like everyone else, can now pay for heating and air conditioning the vast emptiness.
By the way, the gentleman who complained about the hours of the library is correct; libraries should not keep bankers hours.
The county has done a sad disservice to the community with the "new" Central Library. The solution? Get more books and better hours and don't take 10 years to do it.
