It amazes me how people do not think of the safety of our law enforcement officers. They have committed their lives to protecting the public. Is it too much to ask that people respect and listen to what is asked of the police? Of course it is not.
I was a law enforcement officer and the abuse and disrespect I received was unbelievable.
To answer Ken Krejci's letter of June 2, the recent deaths that the media has reported on could have been prevented if the suspect did not run and listened to the instructions of the police officer. Their actions dictated the outcome.
And in each case they had past criminal records and were breaking the law, putting innocent people in danger.
People only run from the police when they are guilty of something. America does not have a police problem, it has a people problem.
Ninety-nine percent of the time police judge the person by their actions not the color of their skin. The law is color blind.
Everyone should take responsibility for their actions and quit blaming everyone else. However, this is America so you can believe whatever you want.
Just know the facts on each case and do not repeat rumors. Don't let this drag you down. Just pray for our law enforcement and leaders that they will do the right thing.
And as an American you can vote for good moral Christian representatives. Enough said!
