Today's arenas are grand places: Go Lightning

I was blessed this winter to get to three Tampa Bay Lightning games with tickets from a friend of a friend -- great seats and all.

During the national anthem, there was an image of the American flag waving on the ice -- wonderful.

But I was also impressed with the image of jets flying on the ice near the end of the anthem.

I assume they were fighter jets. It was probably a second long or less than that, bringing a good patriotic feeling. Reminded me of jets who fly over stadiums.

Since my last big venue visit 40-50 years ago, what a difference in everything in an arena -- music, horns, lights running around. If you watch it on TV, keep your eyes open near the end of the anthem.

Go Lightning.
