Congratulations to the Manatee County Public Library system for the complete re-do of the downtown Central Library.
The first thing you notice is the colorful paint job on the exterior. On a table inside, there are jars of glass beads used to vote on a new name for this fine waterfront structure.
I think this important issue should be extended to the Bradenton Herald to publicize this important issue and allow county-wide balloting.
The open and bright feeling you get as you walk through the first floor is a new experience. Multiple pieces of purple-trimmed furniture emphasize the modern venue.
And computers: Modern times have really dominated! I didn't count them. Downstairs and up, even in the children's area and with directions.
The children's area is welcoming and colorful. Even a play-lecture showroom has a floor mat so the little ones will be comfortable as they sit and learn.
The Eaton Room, for local and area history, has been moved across the room and will have an opening in the near future.
A larger and convenient section for genealogy is in a new area. The whole picture is one of "new," "modern," "learning," "simple," and "welcome."
Congratulations on a job well done!
