Letters to the Editor

Dr. Dan Nolan played a major role in Manatee County school district's progress

Last Friday the children and families of Manatee County lost a great friend with the passing of Dr. Dan Nolan. Dr. Nolan had significant impact in all the roles he played for the Manatee County school district.

In his last assignment he agreed to return to the district as superintendent at what was a very difficult time. One of his greatest strengths was the gift to build relationships. He led the district throughout a healing process and set the stage for achievements to come.

It was my honor to be the opening principal of Dan Nolan Middle School. At the dedication we were blessed to have Dan share this great moment and share his perspectives.

I will miss Dan and I know the staff present and past as well as the families of the district share this loss.

Dr. Ron Hirst
