Older spouses should teach simple skills to one another

I live at Christian Retreat where many senior citizen come to retire. One day I heard a man who had lost his wife complaining that she never allowed him in the kitchen and now that she was gone, he was at a loss when it came to cooking.

I am sure she meant well. However, it made me aware that we need to prepare our spouse for our eventual departure.

As I contemplated situations in which I depend on my husband's help, I thought of asking him to zip up my Sunday dresses so I am now using a wooden back scratcher that I pin on the zipper. Also, he is showing me where to put the fluids in our car.
