I had an opportunity to speak with Manatee County commission candidate Terri Wonder over the phone, because I was curious about her stand on issues like economic development/jobs and Long Bar Pointe along with bringing in business to the Port of Manatee.
Carol Whitmore has established many strong relationships in the community over the years of her public service. When I asked Terri about the development of commerce to our port through the Panama Canal, she stated that the global industry will most likely use the Suez Canal and larger ports such as San Diego and San Francisco. What wasn't even mentioned by her is how Tropicana received shipments weekly.
She wanted to focus on the fact that Carol was able to raise funding, from developers and others. Ms. Wonder didn't realize that after serving the county of Manatee, that having done excellent work, people will back her.
Our discussion regarding Ms. Wonder's work overseas was prominent in the discussion. What was lacking in our conversation was specific issues that she was going to take on locally. She was concerned about my perception of who she is and what she has done in social sciences.

After reading her Facebook page, Republicans for Terri Wonder, there was a comment from the page that she wasn't aware of the background of one commissioner. It has been public information for over two years. This tells me she is out of touch not only with our standing commissioners, their backgrounds and education, but is very disconcerting about what else she is missing locally.
Thank you Bradenton Herald for your support of Carol Whitmore. With her knowledge of commerce, statistics, balance between the environment and development, Carol is the only one for this position.
My support and vote goes without saying to Carol Whitmore.
