Citizens for Sunshine nonprofit wrong to take money from Manatee County children over lawsuit

In the Oct. 15 Bradenton Herald there was a report that the Manatee County school board has decided to settle a lawsuit filed in September regarding their failure to follow the Sunshine law when they hired a security company to provide guards in elementary schools.

The suit was filed by a Florida nonprofit, Citizens for Sunshine. The school board attorney, James Dye, reported that settling now will avoid more legal fees.

Citizens for Sunshine are legally right -- but not morally right. They should not be taking $10,775 from the school children of Manatee County. I thought they were a nonprofit group!
