"How horrible, fantastic, incredible it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas masks here because of a quarrel in a far-away country between people of whom we know nothing." This was the statement made by Neville Chamberlain in September 1938 after agreeing to Hitler's demands.
We all know how that turned out.
Why is it that our leaders never to seem to heed history? And those who don't heed the lessons of history are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past.
We see the images and read daily about the savage acts committed by ISIS. They have already stated that their goal is to bring the fight to the United States, and they will unless America stops them.
Like those in the past, who were weary from World War I, we are all weary from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but if we continue to let this barbarity go unchecked we will have much bigger problems on our hands.
Now is the time, Mr. President, to get off the course and get on the horn. Rally those around the world who have the same morals we do, give the military the support they deserve and take the shackles off those whose job it is to blow up things and kill bad people.
President Bush once stated, and I paraphrase, we fight them there or we fight them here.
The American people need to make a stand and let our leaders know that it is time to wipe ISIS off the face of the earth and show the world that good people will not stand by and let evil flourish.
