This is in response to Richard La Brecque's May 1 letter to the editor. He stated that he thought he could make a right turn because the oncoming traffic was turning left. He received a ticket with a photo that showed that he was clearly in the wrong.
He then complained to the mayor's office that the camera was hidden and there was no warning sign.
Why is it that in this country we have come to the point that we are not accountable for our actions unless we are warned?
This instance is parallel to receiving compensation for pain and suffering just because your coffee cup had no warning on it. If it is the law that the camera intersections must have warning signs, then some drivers will continue to disregard the laws at the unmonitored intersections.
Mr. La Brecque was clearly wrong and his ticket should not have been voided. He violated the law and he should be held accountable.
