I am currently receiving Social Security and working. When I decided to do this, I expected (and was told by Social Security) that I would receive four checks a year (because I was still working).
The first year went by smoothly. However, this year, I have received only one check with a second due in January. I went to the Social Security office the other day and was told that there was nothing that could be done for 60 days.
I am not blaming the ladies at the Social Security office because they are doing their best with a broken system. However, the figures they had and the figures I had were exactly the same. But there was nothing that could be done until W-2's come out in January.
Now let me ask you this: What if I were living on my Social Security? My last Social Security check came in October! I'll bet the politicians and Social Security administrators got their November and December paychecks. Where is mine?
I have worked hard for my benefits since I was 15 years old. But, per the local office, there is nothing that can be done. To me this is an inexcusable situation.
Obviously, someone suspended my benefits because I was working and simply forgot to reinstate them (this is also the theory that the local office has).
Had I known I was only going to receive two checks a year, I would not have begun my benefits at age 62. But the Social Security administration assured me that based on my current income, I would receive four checks a year.
All I want is what I was told I would receive. I should not have to wait on what is rightfully mine!
