Mentor a young student who could be headed to college

Tough economic times require us to give differently. Maybe our dollars are tighter but do you have some available time? Take Stock in Children needs you now!

Do you have about an hour a week to help provide a middle school or high school student an opportunity for a college education? That’s what Take Stock in Children is all about, providing students who have good grades, good behavior and good parent support but who need financial help for the opportunity to achieve a college education.

Through the hard work of Manatee County Take Stock in Children personnel and the financial support of a fantastic community, they are identifying 35 more students for this exciting and noteworthy program.

A key component of this program is that each student has an adult mentor. They need a few more mentors to begin January 2012.

We are approaching the season of giving and maybe some of us don’t have the dollars to give but could donate some time to support a student working toward a college education.

Most of us remember a special mentor who helped and guided us. Why not be one to another student?

If you would like more information and think maybe just maybe you’d like to change a young person’s life, contact Diana Dill, Take Stock in Children, at 941-751-7012, ext. 2047.

Give differently this joyful season.
