This is a letter of appreciation to Manatee Memorial Hospital. Last month I was there for a relatively routine diagnostic test. While being prepped, I felt severe pain in my upper chest and shoulders. An EKG showed I was about to have a heart attack.
Immediately the cardiac team went into action, first in the catheterization lab, then in the OR to perform emergency bypass surgery.
A team of at least eight highly skilled professionals performed CPR and other procedures, getting my heart working well enough to perform a double bypass. They performed this procedure in record time, after which the team administered a therapeutic hypothermia protocol to help with potential neurological issues.
Thanks to the amazing skill, speed and dedication of Drs. Rosenthal, Calderon, Peterson, the entire ER Staff, the cath lab team, and many others in the intensive care and cardiac care units, I am alive.
Manatee Memorial Hospital deserves all the credit for this successful outcome. They are skilled, extremely capable, and have the right people doing the right things.
If you ever find yourself, a husband, a wife, a father, a mother, a daughter, a son, a sibling or a friend in this situation, I hope you consider Manatee Memorial Hospital, with their capable staff of doctors, nurses, and medical professionals. They care, they are professionals, and they make a habit of saving lives.
They worked a miracle. My wife, family and I are extremely lucky and thankful that they were there to save my life.
