Herald headlines: “Debt panel gets ideas, has little time left,” Nov. 15, and “New formula would reduce Social Security COLA increases”
Both articles reflect a tax increase for retirees. The Republicans/tea party state no new taxes. Both these groups are ready to just jump on the bandwagon of placing the burden of reducing the debt on the older citizens who can least afford it.
We were promised if, back during our working years, we would pay for our Social Security and Medicare during out working years, it would be there for us when we retired. We would even have COLAs that would help our dwindling nest eggs to handle the changing times.
I continue to be amazed that retirees are not crying FOUL.
Does anyone see congressmen and senators proposing that they forego their cost-of-living and pay raises, their lucrative retirement plans, their
gold medical plans? All of these are paid by the taxpayer. Yet these plans are too good for us.
It is time to remember. It is time for action. I have to say President Obama has been trying to improve the economy. We couldn’t let the banks fail because they were too big.
We need to throw every current congressman and senator out of office. We have the power in the voting booth. They need to take action now to make the system fair or get voted out of office. Mr. Warren Buffett even said that the rich need to pay more.
What about the little retirees? Heck with them. They can pay for the wasteful spending/bailout of the United States.
