I just read an article online that told about the hardships troops and their wives have when a wounded husband returns home. Some of these wives are in their 20s. They say they worry about them being killed, but do not even consider that they may come home as invalids.
These poor families have to endure the healing process of their injuries that sometimes takes over a year. Sounds like the medical care at these military hospitals is pitiful at best. Some of the families have to sell their homes to pay medical bills and maybe a new procedural treatment that just might work a miracle for them.
The wives are left to be the breadwinners and the 24-hour caregivers and parents for their kids. It’s not because the father does not want to do it, it is because he is unable either physically or mentally.
I would like for one, just one, of our so-called caring political leaders to explain why our wounded troops have to spend one penny on medical care or on a special home to accommodate their physical state of being.
Tell me why a soldier’s family cannot get assistance to live, because his wife has to care for him continually, when millions of people across the U.S. get handouts they do not deserve!
How can you, elected officials, go on a month-long vacation when our troops cannot have even one day of not worrying how they’re going to pay for the next medical bill? I bet you might be a little more interested if it was your daughter or son who came back like these men and women do.
I am going to write every politician who represents me in any way in Florida and demand that they start doing something that is right and start taking care of our wounded guys.
