Who should control the legislative agenda for the U.S. Congress: We the people or corporate America?
The tea party agenda is the corporate agenda. Just look at their record:
They voted almost unanimously in the House of Representatives to abolish Medicare and replace it with a voucher program. They are reviving plans to privatize Social Security. They want to lower the corporate tax rate to zero.
They say they want to get rid of all federal regulations on corporations, even those that protect us from unsafe practices, pollution or fraud. They have cut millions of public sector jobs at both the state and federal level.
And they have tried to block all attempts by the Obama administration to improve the lives of Americans and move our economy forward.
We the people know what we want. We want the wealthiest Americans and corporations to pay their fair share. We want our politicians to value country over party.
And we want our representatives to work together to grow the economy, create more jobs, and prepare our country for the future.
A good place to start is by demanding that Congress pass the American Jobs Act. It will cut taxes for small businesses and the middle class.
It will prevent up to 280,000 teacher layoffs and retain needed police and firefighters.
It will modernize at least 35,000 schools and provide funds to update our ailing infrastructure putting hundreds of thousands of workers back to work.
Tea party Republicans have no jobs plan. They are doubling down on the corporate agenda of “trickle down economics” that hasn’t worked and never will.
We must set the agenda, not corporate America. Government of the people, by the people, for the people must be preserved. Let your voice be heard.
