Short takes on Bradenton reservoir land sale, new Ribfest venue

If the top two bids to purchase more than 200 acres on the shores of Bill Evers Reservoir are razor-thin close -- $10.5 million versus $10.6 million -- and both developers hold strong track records, but one offers far less density than the other 325-375 homes versus 530 units -- wouldn't Bradenton's City Council be wise to pick the smaller development? That is, should council pursue this sale. Manatee County has to approve this anyway, so fewer homes are likely to be more appealing.

So Ribfest is moving from the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto to McKechnie Field in Bradenton and shifting the date to October, six months later than past events. Hmm. Wonder how the grass field will hold up to a trampling.
