MANATEE -- After a warm and breezy day, a line of showers and thunderstoms is moving through parts of the Manatee County area Christmas Eve ahead of a cold front bringing showers and a dip in temperatures.
According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, the cold front moving across the Gulf will bring a change in weather to Manatee County. The same cold front has already brought severe thunderstorms to parts of the southeast.
Tallahassee had record rainfall Tuesday of 7.44 inches.
The Manatee County area has a high chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening, and windy conditions are expected as well.
"We may get some strong thunderstorms with gusty winds," Marquez said.
There is a risk of rip currents at Gulf Coast beaches.
Cooler but drier air will move in for Christmas Day, with high temperatures expected to remain in the upper 60s compared with 80 Christmas Eve.
