Brush fire closes I-4 for hours near Orlando, Disney parks

ORANGE COUNTY -- The Florida Division of Forestry says a suspicious fire shut down eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 for several hours near the Orlando attractions in Orange County.

The roadway was closed from S.R. 417 to S.R. 528. South International Drive was also closed near Osceola Parkway.

The fire, which is currently around 15 acres, is burning near International and World Center drives'

According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the fire was thought to be a controlled burn, but the DOF stated the fire is now believed to be suspicious.

Viewers have reported heavy smoke at nearby Disney theme parks.

Eastbound traffic was diverted onto U.S. 192. The fire is not threatening any structures. A cell phone tower was threatened but was protected.

Drivers should use caution in the area as there is still smoke in the area.
