A Florida inmate has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for strangling another inmate at a Florida county jail.
The Ledger reports that 48-year-old Javier Medina Perdomo was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
Authorities say Perdomo strangled Joseph Dawes at the Polk County Jail in September 2015 just minutes after the two men were put in a cell together. The men didn't appear to know each other before the attack.
Perdomo had been arrested 11 days before the attack on a sexual battery warrant.
